THE WHEEL OF THE YEAR

Honoring the Sacred Cycle of Earth and Spirit

The Wheel of the Year is an ancient calendar that marks the natural rhythms of the Earth through eight sacred festivals—known as Sabbats—that honor the shifting seasons, solar transitions, and the deep relationship between nature and spirit. This cyclical wheel offers a way to live in harmony with the turning of the Earth, aligning our lives with the energies of growth, release, rest, and renewal.

Why Do We Celebrate?

We celebrate the Wheel of the Year to:

  • Honor Nature’s Cycles: It brings us into alignment with the natural world—its birth, bloom, decay, and rebirth.

  • Mark Sacred Time: Each sabbat holds spiritual significance and teaches us something about life, death, transformation, and light.

  • Awaken Ancestral Memory: These festivals connect us to ancient traditions, our ancestors, and the collective rhythms of humanity.

  • Deepen Inner Growth: The seasonal shifts mirror our own spiritual journey—inviting reflection, intention-setting, and soulful embodiment.

  • Celebrate Community: These sacred times offer moments to gather, share, and co-create in spiritual community.

The Eight Sabbats of the Wheel

A Sacred Gathering of Light, Spirit, and Community

At The Sacred Temple Mystery School, we walk in rhythm with the sacred cycle of the Earth. Four times a year, we gather to celebrate the Fire Festivals—powerful thresholds of transformation that mark the turning of the seasons and the awakening of the soul.

These are not just dates on a calendar.
They are sacred moments when the veil thins, when the Earth speaks, and when we remember who we are.

The Eight Sabbats of the Wheel

  • Yule (Winter Solstice) – Rebirth of the light

  • Imbolc – Awakening, inspiration, new beginnings

  • Ostara (Spring Equinox) – Balance, renewal, fertility

  • Beltane – Passion, fire, union, blossoming

  • Litha (Summer Solstice) – Full light, abundance, celebration

  • Lughnasadh / Lammas – First harvest, gratitude, sacrifice

  • Mabon (Autumn Equinox) – Balance, reflection, letting go

  • Samhain – Death, ancestors, the veil between worlds

We celebrate to honor the Earth, the ancestors, and the unseen realms that guide us.
We celebrate to rekindle the fire within.
We celebrate because these festivals reconnect us with something ancient, something wise, and something deeply alive.

In these sacred circles, something shifts.
You feel the pulse of the Earth beneath your feet.
You feel the warmth of the fire in your chest.
You remember that you are part of something timeless and holy.
